We process raw fleece for small to mid-sized Canadian farms, free from the chemicals commonly used in modern textiles. As a semi-worsted mill, we offer farmers a broad range of finished products. We are large enough to handle hundreds of pounds of fleece yet small enough to be breed-specific and to customize the product to your specifications.
If you have fleece you’d like to sell, we also purchase a selection of fleece from Regenerative Ontario Farms. We are always looking to purchase coloured fleece.

Custom Milling FAQs
I would like to have my fleece processed at Wave Fibre Mill. Will you process my fleece?
Yes, if your fleece is of an adequate quality for processing (see Fleece Guidelines below) and is at least 50 lbs in weight.
What kinds of yarn blends can you manufacture?
We can create blends with any animal fibres (Alpaca, Angora, Llama, Mohair). We do not use synthetics or bamboo, rayon, silk… For strength in sock yarn we use Mohair.
I have Alpaca or Mohair that I’d like to have processed. Can you process this for me?
We do not process 100% Alpaca or Mohair. For optimal use of our equipment and to ensure good results we add 30% wool. For those farmers without their own supply of wool, we have a selection of Ontario grown wool available.
How long will it take to have my fleece processed?
- When we have an opening, we call you to arrange a drop off time or a time to receive shipment.
- While we currently anticipate a 3 month turnaround time on most orders, each order is unique. Volume, choice of end product, size of yarn, cleanliness etc all play a part in determining completion time.
I don’t have time to sell my own yarn but would like to do something with my fleece. Will you buy it from me?
Our mandate is to purchase Ontario grown. We look at fleece quality, cleanliness, breed, colour, farm practices, and volume.
How much will it cost me to process my fleece into yarn?
As each process is priced by the pound, your total will be determined by how much processing you want. You can estimate your costs by viewing the pricing information below. Prices are cumulative. Keep in mind that through washing you can lose 30-50% of your weight. We reweigh the fleece after washing.
Is there a way I can reduce the cost of processing my fleece?
Yes! Clean, skirted fleece has less waste and fewer difficulties through the equipment reducing the cost of processing.
Fleece Guidelines Starting with clean fleece allows us to create a higher quality end product for you.
For the highest quality fleeces, we recommend:
- Ground feeding (keeps hay from being embedded in the neck, head and back)
- Clear burrs and thistles from pasture annually
- Animals raised outside year round yield the highest quality fleece
- If using bedding, straw is more easily removed than hay
- Skirt fleeces as they are sheared
- Do not cut nails over the sheared fleece
- Soiled skirt can be sold at Canadian Co-op Wool Growers (CCWG)
- Any storage should be dry and away from pigeons and other critters
- We inspect each fleece and will reject those not suitable to provide you with the highest quality of product
